Will I have to take time off work for my oral surgery?
This will largely depend on what treatment you receive. Typically, less invasive procedures like dental implants and BOTOX injections don’t require you to take time off work. However, if you’re receiving more extensive treatments, like jaw surgery and facial feminization, we’ll be sure to speak with you in depth about your recovery, including how long we recommend you take time off of work.
How long will it take me to recover from oral surgery?
Your recovery will depend on a variety of factors, including what type of oral surgery you have, your body’s unique healing process, and more. Many patients are able to return to work and their routine lives within a week from their oral surgery; however, others may require longer, depending on how invasive their surgery is. During your consultation, we’ll be sure to give you a realistic timeline for recovery so you can plan your life accordingly.
What should I eat right after oral surgery?
After oral surgery, we typically recommend that our patients maintain soft food diets so they don’t accidentally dislodge a blood clot, put too much strain on their jaw joints, or cause themselves discomfort or pain. We recommend stocking up on soft foods like oatmeal, yogurt, protein shakes, eggs, mashed potatoes, and other similar snacks and meals.
How will my pain be managed after oral surgery?
If you receive a minimally invasive procedure, your pain can easily be managed with over-the-counter medications. However, for more extensive treatments, our team will likely prescribe a pain medication. We may also provide post-op care instructions to help manage your discomfort.
