Delta Dental of Virginia offers a number of plans, including both those that you can get from an employer and those that you can purchase as an individual. Regardless of how you got your benefits, though, you may select a Delta PPO plan, which gives you the freedom to use your policy at any dental practice, including specialists, without a referral.
Here is a general overview of how PPO dental plans usually work:
- Preventive care, including routine exams, cleanings, and basic X-rays, are usually 100% covered.
- Minor services, such as fillings and simple extractions, are around 80% covered.
- Major services, including some of the procedures available in our practice, are often around 50% covered.
It is also important to keep in mind that your plan may have a deductible, a waiting period before you can receive certain levels of coverage, and an annual maximum. Your maximum is a yearly limit on how much the Delta Dental company will pay for approved services. Since we are in-network with Delta Dental PPO, our team is in an ideal position to assist you as you strive to get the most out of your annual maximum.
For example, we have a contract with Delta that controls prices, so you may pay less overall than you would at out of network practices. Plus, we can sometimes schedule procedures across multiple appointments between calendar years, which may allow you to use two annual maximums instead of just one.
